I walked down our driveway the other day and stopped in my tracks. I turned to Jason and said, "Jason! What is that wonderful smell???" My next plant lesson started.
The picture on the right is our Black Snakeroot which is located on the side of our driveway. It is just now coming into bloom and the smell is divine! It's supposed to bloom late summer with glossy dark purple-brown foliage. I did some "digging" (on the Internet) and I found out this plant is used for medicinal purposes. Currently, there are some overseas countries that use it today. A very interesting read and much information about this plant.
I enjoy not only having different varieties and sizes of plants in our landscape, but I just cannot say enough about this wonderful smell! Another shaded gem!
